You're mixing old carbureted petrol engines with modern diesel ones. You cannot diy-repair a direct-injected turbocharged and complicated modern petrol engine either, on the other hand take a stinky normal non-injected diesel, like the polo sdi one of my friends had. It would have been easy and quick to repair - had it ever broke down.
Hazaky, just when you found an interesting car, just google some forums (e.g. Ford escord forums), search for your model (mk7 in your case I believe) and look at what causes the most problems. I know many things to be broken on the car I want, and I know how to check for them. If you see that the front wheel bearings on your wanted car are crap, you know where to look and where you can point when you want to save money :-)

I would! I'm not only saving for a fanatec set, also I put a bit of money aside for my 5th car, which will be sportscar, german, old, high mileage and a looker with 20-30 years of age! Porsche 924S (the one with the proper porsche engine). Those things go over 300000 miles easily if you take care of them, which people did because it's a porsche.
I wouldn't want to get a german car (or a car imported from germany that is) if I was in estonia. Over here people buy loads of dead, totalled, dented cars for cheapasf*ck, bring them to eastern europe, get them fixed the cheapest way and sell them, sometimes back to germany. Those cars are the worst you can get for your money, be careful!

Hmm, one more problem is that my flight from stansted on sunday will leave at 11:20... Either I'd have to leave on monday (which is stupid, who'll take me there on the first workday of the week) or I have to be at Stansted early in the morning, which would mean I need a sober driver to get up with me at 6 in the morning or so.
I don't know how far my fiesta will get me, it's dying a horribly slow and painful death since I got it. So the only airport in germany I could reach would be Memmingen (Munich south, what a laugh, this airfield is 100kms away from Munich), Memmingen is only serving GB via Ryanair, they have only one flight per day in this direction.......... vicious circle.
So IF a) I don't win a lottery or b) ryanair doesn't get a better schedule or c) there's nobody to fetch me from stansted AND who can bring me back at a ridiculous time don't count on me.
I hope for a wonder to happen still.

There might still be a way. Ryanair also flies from and to friedrichshafen, which is no further from here than Memmingen. Unfortunately atm I can't book a flight yet. Keep your fingers crossed!

Für uns Normalsterbliche gibt es kaum eine Möglichkeit, car mods zu benutzen. Die Kompatibilität beim Onlinespiel ist nicht gewährleistet, skins müssen von Grund auf neu entworfen werden und nicht zuletzt wird die Qualität des Wagens nicht denen der originalen Modelle entsprechen.
Es erheitert mich ungemein zu sehen, daß der Ersteller des Threads keinen blassen Schimmer von dem hat, was ich hier in normaler, möglichst fehlerfreier Deutscher Sprache mitteilen will. Er selbst scheint nicht seiner Muttersprache mächtig, läßt jegliche Etikette vermissen, scheint die Suchfunktion dieses Forums nicht zu kennen und wird letztendlich nicht mit den hier gegebenen Antworten zufrieden sein.
Ein kleiner Spaß noch zum Schluß:
